Oscars 2014 Wrap-up | Best Awards Acceptance Speeches – The Directors

How f*cking cute is Steve McQueen? The jumping up and down? It was indeed a director/film split between Gravity and 12 Years A Slave with Alfonso Cuaron taking Best Director and the right film being immortalized. Steve Mc Queen Steve McQueen wins best motion picture for 12 Years A Slave “I dedicate this to all the people who have endured slavery and for the 21 million people still suffering slavery today. Everybody deserves not just to survive, but to live.” – Powerful words to end on. McQueen is my director revelation. I discovered his work with Shame. Which I shamely enjoyed and adored. I love his way to transcribe emotions and I love the sensibility and the deepness he uses to address subjects such as slavery (12 Years A Slave), sex addiction (Shame) or excruciating hunger strike (Hunger). 12 Years a Slave may not be the best film about slavery but it was indubitably the best film to see this year. Anne Helen Petersen wrote a great piece on how important it is that you watch 12 years a slave. …

Beyond The Oscars | 3 Ways for Brands to Win The Oscars

3 rules we can learn from the best brand placement at the Oscars The TV industry is experiencing a sea change and advertising, as we have known it, is threatened as in no other historical period (Brand Channel) The Oscars hit a 10-year high in viewership, watched by an average of 43 million people, up from 40.4 million in 2013 (Adage.com). During those recent years, it appears that the Academy Awards is becoming increasingly desirable as a marketing platform. Since commercials are becoming more and more expansive to produce but are less and less viewed, brands have to innovate in order to engage with the multi-connected audience and go beyond the traditional broadcasted commercials. Having products appear in a program—product placement—has been a part of the TV business since the early days of the medium. Commercials breaks are boring to hell and social media ease the viewer to skip them. Today, product integrations, also known as content marketing or branded entertainment is at the epitome of glory and let the marketers to break free during the show. …

Oscars 2014 Wrap-up | Best Awards Acceptance Speeches – The Actresses

Women equality is a very strong subject in Hollywood. Lately, actresses and women directors around the world have come to fight for more equality and better conditions. The fact that 40 years plus actresses have difficulties to get roles, or that women directors can’t get enough money to shoot  women issues related movies is a big problem in the movie industry right now. But I can feel like this year change has come. First, three famous women hosted the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards.Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Ellen Degeneres  each  did a very good job, in my opinion. And with FIVE actresses nominated, i.e., Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Judi Dench, Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts, already in their 40’s,  we can say that women condition has began to change. But there’s still a lot to do.

Oscars 2014 Wrap-up | Best Awards Acceptance Speeches – The Actors

I Love awards winner speeches, especially at the Oscars because they made it so official so emotional and so deep that they can sometimes be a perfect example to any people that has to prep an official discourse. This year acceptance speeches were about ‘Dreams and dreamers’ ; ‘Women empowerment’ ‘Being an Hero’ ; Perseverance ; Freedom ; Fighting and Living. This is very Hollywood style but every discourse has to send strong messages on actual subject, such as Leto talking about his single mom or addressing the current issues in Ukraine and Venezuela. Mc Conaughey’s “I am my own hero” speech was a bit selfish but it touch me as to help me to grow my faith so it works for me ! Jared Leto Oscars 2014: Jared Leto wins Best Supporting Actor for ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ (Click here to watch) “In 1971, Louisiana, there was a teenage girl who was pregnant with her second child. She was a high school drop-out and a single mum but somehow she managed to make a better …

Post Oscars Wraps-up | A Star Is Born

Lupita Nyong’o Career Prospectus Lupita won Best Supporting Actress. And she well deserved it. Her speech was simple yet very inspiring. She had the joy of her life. And I can certainly understand why. Lupita’s Future I read in a discussion yesterday Oscars day that Lupita Nyong’o doesn’t have any films in production at the moment. She’s in that Liam Neeson film, Non-Stop, and then… Nothing? Comparing her trajectory to Jennifer Lawrence, who had a breakout with Winters Bone, followed by mostly quality films, then got not only into one but two franchises, does this smack of racism to anyone else? We all know Hollywood had a case of racism for a long time. And even though 12 Years A Slave won big yesterday and Lupita has had big lights on her since a couple of months, she still might experience difficulties finding new roles in the future. So why does a Black supporting actress winner have to win less than a white best actress? Remember Octavia Spencer and Viola Davis? Or even Jennifer Hudson ? They won big but …

Oscar Race Edition | The Ultimate Boys Face-Off

Awards Season : The Boys Battle Oh what an awards month !! I wrote about the Girls’ Oscars battle  and the Lupita vs J-Law. But this year boys battle is more entertaining. This competition is tighter than it’s ever have been in a long time, maybe ever. Oscar voting is in its final stretch. Which means that the right work, the right communication, the right appearance and the right speeches will make the right difference. Means Brad Pitt had to put his little golden face to work and campaign for 12 Years A Slave. And he finally showed up in London to the BAFTAs with La Jolie. So wassup in the men category ? The Ultimate Face-Off : The A-List VS The B-List BEST ACTOR  Matthew McConaughey “THE GOOD OL’ BOY MADE GOOD” : 1 GG + 1 SAG  MMC Strategy : Matthew is the favourite of this year. It’s difficult to understand his star rank. From my point of view he’s not an A-List, he’s a super bankable  B+ List with no A movie in his career. Last year marked …

Time For Your Daily Dose of Lupita

Lovely Lupita Nyong’o is coming on strong. She’s the new fresh girl of 2014 “She’s the most popular girl on the award circuit. Even more popular than Jennifer Lawrence since people (unfairly, arguably) seem to be tired of the Jennifer Lawrence. Lupita is the Lawrence of 2014 and Lawrence is the Hathaway of 2014? Discuss.”_Lainey Gossip Read more about Lupita Nyong’o HERE

The Oscars Race Edition | Leo Dicaprio x The Wolf of Wall Street

The teen heartthrob who became too much of an A++ list star Last night my cousin who now start to admit that I am kind of a celebrity expert asked me if I thought that Leonardo Dicaprio might have a chance to get an Oscar this time. And weirdly I found it super hard to answer this question. So I thought it was my responsibility to answer this crucial question because we  are all be wondering why WHY Leo doesn’t have an oscar yet ?!? Predictions and critics all agreed that Leonardo Dicaprio has strong chance to get his Oscar with the movie he stars on : The Wolf of Wall Street.

Oscar Race Edition | The Ultimate Girls Face-Off

Awards Season : Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards, SAGs Wrap-up Oh what a week !! The award season is one of my favorite. First because I am addicted to Awards shows, I love red carpets like it’s cocaine, and I adore winners speeches like it’s heroine. I could watch every single of them again and again even if it’s 3 hours long. And thanks to the Internet you can sometimes find those sort of amazing treasures :
