In another post-apocalyptic editorial, Jaden & Willow Smith say some very mature words under the guidance of Pharrell Williams. I haven’t read the article entirely, but I was extremely drawn to that entirely black clothes editorial, with them being so intimately close and embracing each other. It’s like they were the same person, which I guess is kind of true when you are siblings. But enough talking, enjoy the pictures! The interview is here.

Last week was the MTV’s Video Music Awards (VMAs) where Rihanna was honored by getting the VMA’s Vanguard Award. She got to perform 4 sets of medleys, each one with a specific tone. She was, however,  “dethroned” by Beyonce whose performance was on everybody’s lips the day after. Queen Bey made a huge impression on the red carpet, where she showed up not only accompanied by her daughter Blue Ivy but also by Mike Brown’s mother, Lesley McSpadden-Head;  Trayvon Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton; Oscar Grant’s mother, Wanda Johnson; and Eric Garner’s mother, Gwen Carr. (billboard.com) She also got to interpret most of the songs from her mini-album Lemonade in a near 17 minutes performance !!  She celebrated her womanhood, her motherhood and especially her blackness. Congratulations to Beyonce for getting 8 awards that night and being the talk of the town the day after. All this while maintaining that aura of mystery around her. I went to see Ghostbusters when it came out, even if I originally hadn’t planned too. Four TV Girls, Four Covers | Elle US February Issue

Elle US features some of the funniest women on the small screen for its annual Women in TV issue ! Zooey Deschanel, Mindy Kaling, Amy Poehler and Allison Williams each get an individual cover. Zooey Deschanel, wearing typical Valentino, talks about the idea that girliness connotes weakness and how it comes up less and less. Allison Williams, while looking at us sensually, compares her style to Jennifer Anniston’s and shares her strategy about becoming America next Sweetheart (good luck honey!). Amy Poehler  is due to win an Emmy and won a Golden Globe last week for her excellent portrayal of Leslie Knope on Parks and Recreation. In her ELLE  interview she speaks about juggling between actress/producer/writer and mother. However I am mostly excited about seeing Mindy Kaling finally getting a cover !! But is it me or is her cover very different from the rest? She’s the only one in black & white (WTF!) and on top of that she didn’t get a full but only a head shot (WTFF !?!). I was nicely surprised when I saw the new Givenchy campaign featuring Erykah Badu. Not that I don’t see her as fashionable, but I didn’t think she would be the kind of person to hang around Riccardo Tisci‘s circle. Besides in term of muses, he already has Ciara, Mariacarla Boscono & Lea T. Joined by Maria Borges, Riley, and Asia Chow, this campaign can be considered as the first featuring only women of colors. A milestone in the representation of WOC in fashion? Lady Gaga x Versace Wow can you say “exact copy” ? Can we say this is a Donatella drag younger version ? Gaga is currently promoting her latest album called Artpop like the rent is due so this campaign is well on time. I’m not against a partnership between Lady Gaga & Versace, she has worn their designs before numerous times, including some iconic vintage dresses, so I guess that their relationship is pretty good. Also I like this editorial’s styling, it reminds me of one of Versace’s best campaign with Christina Aguilera back 10 years ago. However I find this all Clone-atella thing could’ve been more creative than this. It’s good but there’s no WOW effect that Gaga used to give everytime she had to sell something. Considering that Gaga is the master of changing the way that she looks, it’s almost a cop-out that they styled her to look exactly like Donatella, since they could have done SO MUCH more with Lady Gaga.They missed a great opportunity to go all out “Fashion Gaga.” Read More :  Givenchy x Erykah Badu More  of Celebrity Endorsements

The Battle of Oscar Campaigners Those covers smell a lot like Oscar campaigning to me, don’t they? Of couuuuuuuuurse they do !!!!!! Can’t you see ? All the Golden Globes nominees are here : Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams in American Hustle, Cate Blanchett in Blue Jasmine, Idris Elba in Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, Jared Leto in Dallas Buyers Club. We have to notice here that there are no Golden Globe nomination for Claire Danes in Homeland (but already won every awards last year so anyway), NO ZOE SALDANA which reminds me “What happened with this  controversial Nina Simone Biopic ???”.
